The Director of Childcare Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the childcare center and after school program and establish and sustain a positive learning and working environment for children and staff. This position is located in our Peabody MA location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    The Director supervises all childcare staff including after school site coordinator, substitutes, transportation personnel, student interns and volunteers.

•    Follow through with all Agency directives and assigned tasks and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision, and constructive criticism.

•    Provide leadership and vision to program staff

•    Establish work environment that values teamwork and cooperation, and respects diversity of culture, beliefs, and values

•    Responsible for maintaining community connections to enhance services to children and families.

•    Hire, train, supervise and evaluate program staff, communicating expectations for performance standards.

•    Monitor and maintain enrollment and contract utilization, quality of program, licensing compliance and NAEYC accreditation.

•    Report any needed repairs and maintenance to physical property.

•    Maintain open, consistent, and effective communication with parents and caregivers.

•    Participate actively in creation of annual budget, and responsible for performance within budget amount.

•    Responsible for participating in the completion of responses to Request for Proposals ( RFP), audits, and reports required by funding agencies and awarded grants.

•    Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of data and reports provided to the Agency.

•    Responsible to follow all established Agency policies and procedures.

•    Demonstrate willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues.

•    Represent the Agency in a professional manner to all segments of the public.

•    Maintain the highest standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including maintaining confidentiality, to children, families, colleagues, the Agency, and the community

•    Have a plan for own professional development (IPDP), staying current in the field by attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature, and/or taking or teaching courses, including 20 hours of professional development per year, as required by EEC, and documented in the PQ Registry.

•    Ability to maintain emotional intelligence control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions.

•    Physical, mental, and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood, with or without corrective devices and accommodations.

•    Work is in person and may require classroom coverage.

•    Other responsibilities as assigned




QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Administration, or BA with master’s degree in progress; Additional experience may be considered in lieu of Master’s Degree.

•    EEC Director II qualified.

•    Five to seven years progressively responsible experience in childcare.

•    Three to five years supervisory, administrative, community organization experience. 

•    Experience with computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite. and use of technical platforms. 

•    Access to reliable transportation to perform the functions of the position.
